Today is the day I lost Dustin many years ago. He was 16 and my only child. I remember all the happy times we shared. The smiles, the jokes, the I love you’s go through my mind each and every day.
This is why I tell you all the time never take anyone or anything for granted. They can be gone in an instant. Treasure who you have in your life. Tell them you love them.
This is one of my favorite quotes: Those we love and lose are never gone. They walk beside us every day… unseen… unheared… still near… Still loved… Still missed and still very dear!

I lost my parents and my husband, so I understand you. Sometimes I run out of power, but somehow I’m going through my life.
I can not imagine what it looks like when you lose a child … I’m with you, my dear friend
Such a beautiful month … for you, full of sad memories … hold on my dear friend
I knew it was around Christmas time. I am so sorry Carol, and yes you have taught me to enjoy every second with my two sons. Not that I didn’t before, but I think about you when we go out hiking and how these times will be my most treasured. Thank you for being my friend!
Yes it is such a hard time Kim. Lost my brother on the 8th and my sister on Christmas Day as well. Not a good month. So glad you have your sons and enjoy time with them. Thank YOU Kim.
I read every comment. Aren’t they all awesome. Everyone of them so touching.
I am so sorry for your loss Carol, I can’t even imagine how hard it is losing a child. You are a strong, brave woman and I wish you the best.
Thank you for your kind words. I don’t know where my strength comes from.
One day we will be all together with those that we love but had already gone.
First, so sorry for your loss.
I am always drawn to the Elton John song “Candle in the wind” this time of year. No matter what we must keep moving forward!
Thank you Doc. I appreciate your support. That song brings tears but in a good way. Thank you again.
You are a warrior Carol. No matter how hard life has hit you, you keep moving forward!
I believe he and (those you lost in December) becomes your Xmas angels, always there for you.
🙂
Yes I believe too, it just hurts not having him here. Thank you for your support.
Losing a loved one is very painful. Try to remember the good times you had with your loved ones. All of us will reunite one day in the future.
You are kind with your words. I do treasure the good memories.
My pleasure to share lessons that my late parents shared with me.
Tearing up for you my dear friend. You are teaching many to live life to the fullest. I am so sorry my dear friend.
Your support and friendship are greatly appreciated.
Those days are tough. I wish you peaceful thoughts and comfort, where ever you can find them.
Thank you for your kind words.
I’m sorry for your loss, Carol! I know from my own experience that losing a child is the most painful loss.?
I am so sorry you can relate with the forever nightmare pain.
On 9 December? After that 8/12? Oh… I’m so sorry, Carol. Seems that many have things happened to you in December.
At home, on 00:01 Dec 10, we just blew the birthday candles of our youngest daughter, while on December 20 my eldest sister and 24 of my younger sister will celebrate the same event.
Yes Albert. I could not believe my brother died on December 8th. And I had an uncle that died today as well, the year before Dustin died. You have much to be blessed about, but you know that.
Again, I’m so sorry, Carol. I am more convinced as I have said that you are a strong woman. And you know that too.
You are always so kind support and encoring my friend. Probably more than you realize. You are very appreciated.
… One more date Albert. Lost my sister on Christmas Day 2013.
Geez. How December is a challenging month for you.
