View of Orakei Basin

This is a view I had one morning off the beaten track, I took a woman with Alzheimer with me that day and saw this railway track with a train going across. In the morning the water looked still and polished. Believe me when I tell you that when the tide goes out, it’s like a grey basin with the plug pulled out.

Looking further out you can see another bridge which is Auckland;s waterfront road and beyond that Waitamata Harbour with Point Stanley next to Devonport on the North Shore.

Orakei Basin originated from a Volcanic eruption a very long time ago and Remurea looks over it from Upland Road. I’m not in Upland Road at this time, I am seeing it from Meadowbank off the beaten track. It’s not a typical tourist destination.

With a car you can travel. It’s important when you walk anywhere that you are first safe. Take nothing for granted and trust your instincts and if you can, don’t be alone. Cars so far here are safe as long as you obey the road rules.
