Ten Surprising Natural Phenomena

For thousands of years, people are trying to answer questions about the emergence of the universe, the incredible space of cosmos. However, it must be admitted that even our planet – the Earth – does not stop surprising. Nature is unpredictable, and it does not stop enchanting us by its creations. This time, I want to tell about ten stunning natural phenomena, which surprise today not only travelers but also scientists. Get acquainted with them.

Kaindy Lake, Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, near the Tian Shan mountains, a small, only 400 meters long Kaindy lake flows. It is famous for the fact that the lake has a drowned forest. The lake was formed not so long ago - in 1911. The earthquake caused a huge stumbling landslide of stones and mud, which became a natural dam for the future lake. From the mountains to the ravine began to flow water and sunk the coniferous forest that had risen to this day. Interestingly enough, the tree spikes dropped quite quickly, but the trunks still remained to crawl out of the water. Looks pretty perplexing.

Hell gate, Turkmenistan

Karakum is a desert in Central Asia, occupying as much as 70% of Turkmen territory. In this desert, there was Darvaza village (it was evacuated in 2004), and large natural gas fields are located very close to the territory of the former village. Interestingly, in 1971, geologists discovered a large gas-filled underground cavity through the Earth's surface. The cavity collapsed and a pit of about 70 meters in diameter was formed. It has been called "Hell Gates" by local people because gas is burning here without delay. The hot air pit looks really mystical.

Uyuni Salt, Bolivia

The most popular tourist destination in Bolivia - Uyuni salt. Once upon a time, there was a huge lake, which caused the emergence of two new lakes and two salt marsh after drying. This place really reminds a fantastic movie. It seems as if the earth and the sky are merging. Incidentally, it's interesting that about 25 thousand tons of salt are being mined every year in this territory!

Antelope Canyon, USA

Another striking natural phenomenon can be seen in the United States, Arizona. The Antelope Canyon is an eight-mile-long, narrow, rocky crack located on a gnawed out tableland. This canyon consists of two parts: up and down. The lower canyon is more easily accessible to tourists, as it is much more flattened. The upper part of the canyon is a very narrow slot, surrounded by rocks of almost 40 meters high. In places, this part is so narrow that there fits only a human hand.

Rainbow Forests

Imagine traveling in the forest and you suddenly notice that the tree trunks are colored. You might think that someone painted them with paint. However, it turns out that nature itself can be very inventive. The rainforest eucalyptus forests growing in Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, Seramo and several corners of the globe are striking in a wide color palette. Red, orange, green, yellow, violet, bluish shades blink in tree trunks. The old bark of the plant is laced with vertical lobes, these darken, while the new bark is much lighter. For this, it seems that the tree trunks are painted on a rainbow principle.

Danxia Landscape, China

Danxia is a place boasting a unique landscape in Central China. The mountains here are brightly colored. These colors come from mineral deposits and red sandstone about 24 million years ago. Looks like it was painted! On a sunny day, all the beauty of the relief is revealed. No wonder Danxia is a favorite tourist destination. If you are visiting this extraordinary place in the world, do not forget to take your cameras.

847/5000 Lake Abraham, Canada

The lake Abraham flows in the province of Alberta. In the winter, when Abrahams freezes, there can be seen bubbles. These bubbles are incredible beauty, yet they are not so innocent. Bubbles are formed from methane gas, which, after freezing the lake, takes on shape. Melting away ice, methane gas bubbles rise to the surface. They are dangerous and may even explode. Although these bubbles are a danger, people still travel to see them, because the image is really enchanting.

The Great Blue Hole, Belize

In the Caribbean Sea, along with the Belize coast, the Belize Barrier Reef is a natural creation of incredible beauty. It is the main tourist destination of the country and the submarine dive traction center. The most famous place is the Belize Barrier Reef - Great Blue Hole. It is a submerged circular hole. Its width is 300 meters and the length is even 107 meters. The Great Blue Hole formed during Quaternary Ice Age when the sea level was much lower than now. When the sea began to rise, a huge hole was filled with water. Today, this is one of the most popular dive sites in the world. The water is incredibly clear and clean so you can admire the flora and fauna of the underwater world.

Spotted lake, Canada

A spotted lake is a remarkable natural creation in Canada, in the East of British Columbia. This lake is one of the most mineralized water bodies on the planet. It is rich in calcium, sodium, magnesium, and so on. Interestingly, in the summer, when part of the lake's water evaporates, circles - points are formed from mineral salts. And in each of these circles, the water is a different color - pink, white, greenish or yellow - depending on the concentration of the minerals in the water is greatest.

Luminous beaches, Maldives

The Maldives is a real paradise for those travelers who dream of idyllic holidays. Palm shade, white sandy beaches, emerald sea water and freshly squeezed juice glass - what can be better, right? However, the rest in the Maldives can also be amazed. At night, on the beaches of Seehoo Island, the water is shinning as if starred. In the dark, the coastline is full of plankton algae, whose cell membranes react to electrical signals and glow. Really fantastic natural phenomenon!
