The Christmas season has already started in Scandinavia! Let’s find out where the real winter fun will take place.
Many tourists are already preparing/ready for the trip to Stockholm Christmas markets in the Old Town/Gamla Stan (24 November – 23 December) and at Skansen Open-Air Museum (24-25 November, 1-2 December, 8 December). And, of course, there are a lot of other places in Stockholm where you can feel the pre-holiday excitement and be seduced by the delicious smells of the traditional Swedish dishes!
A similar situation will soon be watched in Norway. Annual Oslo’s largest Christmas Fair will be opened in the Norwegian Folk Museum (Bygdøy Peninsula) – 1-2 December & 8-9 December. The houses decorated in accordance with the preserved traditions, old-fashioned shops and kiosks, a variety of products from skilled craftsmen and much more. And after long Christmas shopping, be sure to drink a cup of hot coffee with the Christmas gingerbread!
Also try to visit Lillehammer (180 km from the centre of Oslo) on 1-2 December – Maihaugen’s Christmas Market with its magnificent Christmas atmosphere looks like a small fairy miracle. Here you will learn all about how the Norwegians celebrated Christmas in the old days.
If you decide to go to Helsinki in pre-Christmas season, you will not be able to pass by Aleksanterinkatu street. The crazy turmoil and the sparkles of Christmas illumination will be guaranteed! This street is decorated in such way since 1949. Doors of shops continuously open and close – the people prepare for the main cheerful holiday of year.
And finally the Christmas market which is named after the great storyteller H. C. Andersen will started in Denmark (Odense) – 30 November – 2 December, 7-9 December.
Welcome to Scandinavian merry pre-Christmas madness!
The Christmas season is starting here too – lights, music and shopping
I would love to vacation there right now.
Yeah, me too. Hope that our dreams will come true!!!
Great Christmas dedication from your region, Natasia.
In my country, the Christmas atmosphere, will only begin to appear in early December and can only be seen in shops and malls.
Very happy that you liked it!! You know, when Christmas & New Year seasons are over, lots of us tired of the cold + snow & dream about hot weather from your region.
I see that Christmas is so special there, while in my country, Christianity is only a minority so the atmosphere feels weak and brief.
