The Randolph-Wabash station is one of the oldest L stations in Chicago. It opened on 08 Nov 1896 for the Lake Street Elevated Railroad which later became part of the Chicago Transit Authority. It was remodeled in the 1950s. It is scheduled to be torn down.
The station was used in the 1987 movie “Adventures in Babysitting” and 1995’s “While You Were Sleeping.”

This mural is on the east wall of the station. I couldn’t find the identity of the artist.
wonderful
Thanks
Beautiful photo and amazing train station trivia Gary. Too bad they are tearing it down.
Some of the stations are in pretty bad shape. The CTA is fairly good about preserving whenever possible. The very first L station is still standing although it is no longer used.
Such an impressive mural
Unfortunately, the station will soon be torn down so the mural won’t be there much longer.
Nice picture! Thanks for sharing my friend.
Thank you for the kind words, Benedict
That train station knew me well, I think it’s the only stop that truly reminded me of NYC. Nice to see it again.
There are a couple of others like it. Unfortunately they are being replaced or remodled. This one is scheduled to be torn down in the near future.

Thanks
