Mostly blue this hot summer and here is Rangitoto Island. It is a volcano. 500 years ago it blew up and came out of the waters of the Waitemata harbour.
Walking on it is like being on another planet, but then I have not been able to go there.
One day, will go again,
Waitemata harbour means sparkling waters. Rangitoto means angry sky. See the Maori remember the volcano coming up. Rangitoto is due to go up and erupt in 500 years. However at any time another volcano is able to come out of the harbour near Rangitoto.
If it happens we all have to make a quick exit from Auckland central, no one could live even from where I took this photo. It is part of what it is to live in New Zealand’s shaky isles. Doesn’t happen often, rarely ever. but then you never know.
Wonderful photo … but you also have volcanoes? Thank God for us. 2 are in Europe – in Italy
Thanks Lado, Auckland has 53 volcanoes. Most are dormant, but one could emerge at any time.
I know something new again dear friend … the volcanoes are really unpredictable
What a wonderful look. You live near a dangerous place.
Yes, there is danger in most places, one way or another. Thanks Vidocka. Generally no volcanos happen. I think the worst thing is to be caught unawares anywhere.
We have quite a few active volcanos in NZ. 3 in Tongario national park and Mt Taranaki.
I love the picture. I have rarely been in warm water, it looks inviting for a hot day!
wondering nice picture of sea!
