#365 Day Photography Challenge – Day 24 – Pohutakawa Trees

The Red Pohutakawa trees flower in New Zealand at Christmas time. The reason why the right side of the photo shows more blossoms is that some types of Pohutakawa trees blossom before the other type.

Yes, we still decorate Christmas trees in New Zealand and some grow pine trees for the purpose of them being a Christmas tree.

However, this one flowers with ingrowing decorations and they make a lovely showing.

I do love decorating anything, including Christmas trees but I also love a native Christmas tree in its natural form as well.

  1. I have seen pictures of these flowers sent by my friend who was in New Zealand for ten years. Those close ups look amazing. I used to decorate Christmas tree but from last year we have let that tradition go by.
