Being that the Illinois Fighting Illini defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers last year I seen this as a possible win for the Fighting Illini going into the season, but that changed after a comparison in previous performances between the two. And as of yet, the Golden Gophers have not been defeated this season, and things do not appear to be picking up until the second week of November for the Golden Gophers as they take on the Penn State Nittany Lions.
This Golden Gophers team is different than last years team. Much talented and has key superstars like Rashod Bateman and Rodney Smith who are well capable of exposing the Fighting Illini defense. Both had a tremendous performance against the Purdue Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Indiana. If the Fighting Illini can find ways to keep Bateman and Smith at bay then I see it being a pretty decent football game despite the match up predictor.

Sadly, if you look at the Fighting Illini vs Golden Gophers past games within a decade, notice the trend?

Minnesota will be rowing the boat on this one.
From here maybe the Fighting Illini can defeat Purdue, Rutgers or Northwestern hopefully
I forgot to watch this game, I just saw the score now. It’s bad. Fortunately, U of I basketball begins next month
I used to try and watch them, but once they started losing I just settled for catching notifications on my ESPN application. I’d be surprised if we beat Purdue! They really have to get rid of Lovie Smith.
i have to say the Gophers on this one pal.
Good choice, Doc because they just got their asses handed once again. I’m laughing at the Tweets that are tagged #FireLovie
I think honestly, it is all about defense. Illinois has a good offense, but they can’t stop anybody.
The only games left I want to see them in is versus Purdue, and maybe Northwestern. It would be a failed season if they don’t win at least those games. And it is expected that they defeat Rutgers.
It might make Lovie look good and preserve his job if he defeats Rutgers, Northwestern, and Purdue.
i think he is on a very hot seat
