The Anza Borrego Desert (Part 1)

You know how on Facebook they have memories. Today this one came up from 2012 and I just had to share it with all of you.

Our day in Ocotillo Wells. We took the 4×4 into this really cool place called Split Mountain.

Here’s our day.

#1 The end

of a small box canyon.

The elevation in Ocotillo Wells in San Diego County is at an elevation of 163 feet above sea level.

There is a lot of color here.

Free camping is available in the desert.

#3 Having fun

there are a lot of little crevices.

There are a lot of features inside the park which include:

Blow Sand Hill and Devils Slide, are some really awesome sand dunes here.

#4 Livin’ dangerously..

My son posed under this rock. The crevice goes way back.

#5 My full sized truck

is dwarfed..

#6 This park

has so much to explore. I can see why Ansel Adams shot so many photos here.

See the truck? lol

Oh btw, don't ever leave your truck open like this in the desert. Never, ever ever. I well tell you why later.

#7 The kids and Maggie Mae

This hill was actually way more colorful than my camera could pick up. From green to purple.

#8 The valley

is green and red, and yellow.

#9 More

of the valley. I think I could of spent a month or two here. Just in this one valley.

#10 Maggie Mae

checking out the scenery, from a bluff about 100 foot high. The camera doesn't pick up the depth. She was like a mountain goat.

The end of part one. I took too many pictures.
