The “super blue blood moon” 31 January 2018

A rare astronomical event occurred today on January 31, when a total lunar eclipse coincided with the blue  moon. This night, the Earth’s natural satellite was in its orbit at the smallest distance from Terra caused the occurrence of a phenomenon called “super blue blood moon”. Blue Moon is the second full moon of a calendar month. This is the second full moon of this month! The first on was on 1’st January2018

Today I went to the park to watch the moon at rise. I was hoping to catch some of the penumbral eclipse but …I was not lucky! Targovistea is surrounded by hills and there were also few clouds in the sky. At the time I saw the moon appearing  … the eclipse was over. Eclipse I did not see but I have taken some pictures! Unfortunately I left without a tripod and all the pictures are taken hand held camera.

  1. We had totality here, and I was up, but forgot about it completely. Too early even for me. I am so glad you got these shots, they are fabulous! I was watching some youtube videos of it. Some were very red.
