Rock Park

Today, I visited Rock Park in Castle Rock, Colorado. The park surrounds the large butte which inspired the city of Castle Rock’s name. The hiking trails enable you to climb to the base of the butte and to encircle the entire butte. If my memory is correct, it’s about a 1.4 mile hike round trip. However, the trip up from the trail head that I started at was shorter than the route I took on the way down. Overall, the trail was well marked, but there was one spot on the return trip where I zigged instead of zagged and had to retrace my steps. Nonetheless, it was a relatively quick hike with some lovely views.

  1. I noticed that many hiking trails look the same at different locations. Yeah, Google doesn’t give very good direction. I do a better job with a Thomas Guide book.
