This is to show our beautiful unique Kereru otherwise known as the New Zealand Woodpigeon!
Not to be confused with the Green Bird of another post recently made. Never mind! I can easily make a mistake with any other bird of another country, I would not know not having seen it in real life…
You will note the head is Green not Black…It is the largest Woodpigeon in the world, the size of a large stock pot.
It is a lovely gracious bird that was kind enough to allow me to take its photograph. There is something good about these birds.
The 1st two birds are around the corner from where I live in Onehunga, that includes the thumbnail shot.
I have never seen a green pigeon before. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Dawn, it is a beautiful bird….
The beak is much different for sure. But boy this looks so close.
He was close, and a very kind Woodpigeon to allow me as I photographed him, I felt I was being watched, but he was very kind.
Thanks so much Kim…
