Walking the path of healing
Step by step
One foot forward
One foot back
Joy and sadness in the same moment
Forward and reverse in the same step
The path of healing is never ending
Step by step
One foot forward
One foot back
These words came to me last year after witnessing a tragedy in our neighborhood. I will not go into details only that a man took his life. The sound of the gunshot immediately sent me in a spiral and back to the moment I lost my son, Dustin. After you lose someone you love, there are always triggers you will have to deal with. The ones that catch you off guard are the worst. But I was thankful to have a good friend (who also lost a child to suicide) tell me these comforting words…
“You are having a setback.
But you have the time and distance of years to your advantage.”
I am thankful for the supportive friends I have met over the years, and most of all for hope. Without hope we have nothing.
Wishing you all a great week and do not take anything or anyone for granted.
I can’t say less or more than you have said. We shouldn’t take anything or anyone for granted.
You are so very true my friend.
Very powerful and moving words, Carol!
Thank you Ellie, straight from my heart!
Carol I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us.
Thank you for your kind words Michelle. I appreciate your kindness.
I can’t put into words what should be said. Just know that in sharing you are helping others. I cannot imagine what it is like to lose a child. It is beyond imagination. I wish such things could be undone.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the road rise up to greet you.
There are not words Doc, only support. Reminders from those like you that I am making a difference perhaps, helps me push through the pain. And I thank you for that. I hope you or nobody else has to go through a parent’s forever nightmare. You are not suppose to outlive your child. I am here to make sure he is not forgotten.
Your cause is noble, your journey is honorable. I wish you success, and thank you for reminding all of us not to give up.
The pleasure is all mine Doc.
I am glad you have supportive friends. After going through dreaded drama, I am sure there will always be some setbacks down the road. But you have the courage to go on, and educate people to not take anything/anyone for granted!
And you are one of those friends Icy. Yes it is a rollercoaster and you learn as you go how to get through. Thank you for always lending a kind word and support.
Carol, it’s been months since I knew you through virily and every time you came into the memory of your dearest son, I always feel how sad you are without him but at the same time, I can feel the happiness you felt for having him even for a short time.
You’re such a strong woman for not giving up your life for nothing.
Cassy, You are so kind to say these encouraging words. I do not feel strong most days. But I know he would want me to continue living and smiling so I try and that’s all I can do. I want to keep his good memories alive.
Yes, that’s the good thing. His memories will be your strength. Remember, he’s watching you from where he is now.
Thank you again Cassy.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Always sad to loose someone, especially if suddenly.. I lost my husband to heart-attack 5 years ago; but we got over his death quickly coz we knew of his heart problem
Thank you and sorry about yours. You never get over any loss. A lifetime of sorrow…. and memories.
Life without falling, tragedy, sorrow, and death will not lead us to resurrection, congratulations, happiness, and rebirth within. Let’s enjoy life as is, until we live to the fullest, just as I enjoy your beautiful work!
I am trying Albert, really trying. Some days are better than others.
I know Carol. I know and even see clearly your step forward. I am proud and grateful for that.
I do know.
Yes I know Norman. Life can be devastating.

Trenna, Thank you so much for your kind words. They are very much appreciated. We are all fighting some sort of battle.

Thank you LaJenna, I write when my heart is hurting it seems.
