The frosty weather means its time to bring the cattle home. Roundup takes at least a week and a lot of work on horses. The cattle have been up grazing on leased forest land and they roam. They sometimes roam so far we don’t find some. We do our best to accountable.
Every animal we lose is a financial loss as well.
It’s still a good time to work hard together. Lots of neighbors and many friends from far and near show up for roundup time.
Thanks for letting me enjoy a picture and share some memories.
Horses really can recognize their owners by their voices, according to research showing how they generate a mental picture of familiar humans. … The latest findings show horses also single out humans in this way, even though they look and sound very different to themselves.
Yes, horses do know and remember people.
This reminds me of the poem by Thomas Gray “Elegy in the country church yard”
The first lines
The curfew tolls the knell of parting day, The lowing herd wind slowly o’er the lea, The plowman homeward plods his weary way, And leaves the world to darkness and to me.

I love it. Thanks so much for sharing that. I really appreciate the extra effort.
This is a special experience … in the autumn of the autumn, the cattle are roaming from the mountains
It is a time that I enjoy.
That is interesting. I love horses. No horse here, but with four kittens every night it’s round up time here.
I think you have the tougher job!
I was around horses growing up. Beautiful animals.
Some of my closest friends are horses.
Interesting …
I didn’t know roundup takes so long
Some years are quicker than others.
Is a roundup something that you have personal experience with? Good post.
Yes, every single year. About 800 head of cattle.
Humm that picture did not size right – I am sorry.
