Some may call their goals dreams, or around the beginning of the new year resolutions. I cannot imagine anyone not having some type of goal for life, whether its something small or something you think is not reachable at all, a set up for failure but it does not have to be a failure at all.
Thoughts of goals can be anytime of the year, sometimes I will think about my next new year resolutions months before its to even get here, and sometimes what I want to get accomplished this year may not happen till the next year. Why this happens is, in my opinion, is that after trying for a whole year that dream of success is still in your mind and heart.
I am here to tell you that you can reach your goals in life but you do have to be persistent and not expect anyone to lend a helping hand or give it to you. However, sometimes it just happens that someone may step up and give you that helping hand because they see that you are trying to help yourself.
What to do first:
Sit down and write them down in order that you want to accomplish them. I usually make four a year with two hard and two that should be doable but you can make as many as you would like. Think about why you want to do this.
Can you accomplish this goal with the budget that you have at the moment?
For instance, this year I made the goal to take a vacation because its been many years since I had one, so I have to think of how to get this vacation. One will be start saving right away and I should have enough money saved for a late summer or fall vacation. This would be one of my hardest, I may make this goal and I may not.
Another easier and doable goal is to clean, de-clutter and organize my home. This one will be the easier for me to accomplish, how do I set out to accomplish this without working myself to death and getting burn out fast? Make a calendar.
I will schedule a day to clean out one closet, load the car with what I don`t want or can`t use anymore and put back the things I am keeping.
I will schedule two days, or a weekend, to do the kitchen cabinets.
Maybe it won`t be all in the same month, but it will get done. For me June will be clean out the shed.
But the point is that you can work on the goals all year, just keep that calendar within view, or hang your list on the fridge.
How To Keep To Them :
I do a monthly check in, I personally write a blog, if you don`t that is okay. Pull out your list and review it monthly and with pen and paper write down what you did get done.

And no matter what do not beat yourself up mentally if you do not make it on one because I am making a goal come true this year that I made last year and that is buying solar panels, I saved my online earnings for one year and bought a small hook up for emergencies at Freight harbor when the kits were on sale.
And when you do accomplish a goal you get this feeling… this feeling of satisfaction, that there is nothing that you cannot do, all you have to do is be determined.
At the end of the year, I take the list and look back, I laugh at the hard ones that I did not accomplish and I reflect back to the joy of the ones I did.

It’s important to have an objective
This is a very inspirational post. I do a lot of the things that you do too. Also, like you, it has been many years since I have had a vacation, so that is one of my goals. Don’t know if I will achieve that one this year, but I am working very hard on increasing my income (one reason I am here on Virily, but it is a very slow earner here, eh? Still, every little helps, so I try to remain positive).
Dreams do guide but real life actions are what count…yeah
My long-term goal is to finish disposing of my book inventory, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish it before I die. I can’t seem to push myself as hard as you do. Now I’m trying to do at least one thing a day to declutter or clean because it’s all I can physically handle and still do all else I need to do. I commend you on your progress.
Thank you. I do have bad days but every little thing gets done it will be finished soon
Exactly as you say we need goals and one which works for us….I break mine down and review monthly but it keeps me focused.
Yes it does for me as well.
Thanks for sharing, although, as someone that drives to goals as well, I will say there are many ways to move towards a goal. This is certainly one of the ways to do that.
Thank you. Yes it is. this works for me and I am a hard head 🙂
The most important and critical line, it works for me! I am glad you’ve found a system that works!
