Store-bought peanut butter can be full of chemicals and things you wouldn’t really want to consume. Here’s how to make your own peanut butter at home – easily and under your control.

It’s important to know that raw peanuts can be contaminated with a mold that produces aflatoxin – a potential carcinogen. That’s why you should always use roasted peanuts for this recipe. You can roast peanuts for 10-12 minutes in the oven at 180°C (350°F).

You’ll need a food processor or blender for this recipe.
You’ll also need a little bit of plain vegetable oil and, optionally, a pinch salt or some sweetener to taste.
Put the peanuts, the sweetener and the salt in the food processor and grind the peanuts. Add the oil, and continue processing. You should stop the processor every once in a while and scrape down the sides, so everything can be processed well.
Store in the fridge.

Thank you very much for your kind words!
I love making my own nut butters. Unfortunately I busted my last food processor making a partiularly large batch of almond butter.
I tend not to add any oil but you have to be willing to let the nuts blend for a VERY long time for the oils to release and for the mixture to become creamy.
The nicest nut butter I made was hazelnut butter I think – absolutely delicious.
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe and showing how easy and healthy it is to make your own 🙂
Thank you so much, Ishtar! Homemade butters are delicious, and hazelnut butter sounds heavenly! I usually add about a teaspoon of oil because I feel that my food processor isn’t very powerful.
Yeah, probably wise if you don’t want to end up with a broken foof processor like me 😛
Will definitely try it. By the way I pinned it so that I won’t forget to make it
Thank you so much! 🙂
good
Thank you!
your welcome.
I’ve tried to do this before but was not very good at it. I guess I should try again!
What was the problem? If you want smooth peanut butter, you’ll need a powerful blender.
Love this!
Thank you so much!
Glad you like it!
I will ask my wife or my daughter to make it. I’m a big fan of peanut butter. Homemade? Hmmm… must be special.
It’s very easy to make! I hope they agree to make it, hehe.
Sure they are Ellie. They love me so much… Hehehehehe…

Home made peanut butter is a whole lot yummier too!
I agree! When I buy it, it’s always too salty and sweet!
Great tips!
