I captured this large yellow Eastern Swallowtail butterfly in Dustin’s garden. He was visiting the butterfly bush blooms. And I stayed about thirty minutes photographing him. He kept landing on my arm and my hand. Call me crazy but I felt a visit from Dustin while I photographed. It is rare to have one stay so close and to land on you.
I savored each and every moment he allowed. And wondered about the tattered wings. This butterfly has a story to share. I feel he was trying to share it with me. I soaked it all in. More of those little things I talk about.

Great photo –
I just got my first swallowtail picture here at my new place. I saw it land and just waded right into the blackberry bushes. I got pretty scratched up.
Yikes, be careful with those bushes. I have gone through the same just to get a photo.
Good photo Carol.. This butterfly is often in my garden.
It’s really nice.
Thank you Robin, they are one of my favorites.
Thank you, it is a joy to see these in Dustin’s garden.
How do they ever repair the delicate surface?
It does not repair. Butterflies have a very short life span, sadly.
Great photo butterfly !!!
Thank you so much Branka.
I enjoy each special visit I can get.
Love your special butterfly stories like this one. Always good for smiles.
This one was very special, out of the ordinary special LaJenna. He was really trying to get me attention and it worked.
It does look like it survived by a narrow margin…
Yes indeed, if only we knew their journey. They are a miracle.
this too is a part of natural selection
Great photo, that’s very cool! Sounds like a wonderful & special time with the butterfly.
Thanks Courtney, it was a very special time for me.

Yes indeed. The little things are what make up my life.
