Spring is not here just yet. But it will be soon. I am starting to get some of my plants ready. I have a few I need to transplant to larger containers. I always use rocks on the bottom of the planter before I put in the soil. It acts as a filter and helps drain the water. Some say this is a myth but it has worked for me. This will be for my hibiscus. It has outgrown the original container. Time for a larger home. Wish me luck!

I am continuing with the 365 Photos Challenge and I am now on Day 108.
Yes it works very well for me! Thanks!
I hate to say it, but it looks like you are off to a “rocky” start Carol. 😉
Oh my, a funny man you are Doc. And you are so right! 🙂
I think that’s the right way, Carol
Thanks Albert, I will continue using this method.
You’re welcome, Carol. I’m just talking as a fellow hobbyist.
It works for me! Additionally, the heavy stones help counteract any top-heaviness, so adding stability. So good luck 😀
Yes the big ones are easy to find around here. Thanks!
This is a good trick. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for commenting. 🙂
This is a very old but practical method. I also use it. For this, we collect medium pebbles along the sea with my little princess. For her, it’s just a game. Success in the Flowering of Flowers It was with me that I only had to do with Aloe Vera.
That is a good idea and fun for you and your princess. 🙂
Ah, a tip I will try…
I’ll let you know if it works for me…
anyway, nice picture!
Great, it should work, good to see you! 🙂
I don’t think it’s a myth at all. It does work as a filter. Especially when you are planting succulents, that would be very helpful.
Yes it has always worked for me.
It looks like Charlie Brown’s trick-or-treat haul…
Oh you are so funny, always thinking outside the box. 🙂
Actually since Charlie Brown only got one rock this would be a good haul for him.
I don’t think having more of a bad thing translates into a good anything…
Well in the mind of Charlie Brown, you are right.
Great photo of rocks, and that’s a great idea! Thank you for sharing 🙂
Thanks Courtney you should try it.
I have heard of this method, but I haven’t tried it. It’s great that it works for you!
Yes it does work for me Ellie. Thanks for visiting.
I was just thinking today that I should try to start some tomato seedlings for our containers. It’s still way too cold to put anything outside. The crocuses are coming up but haven’t bloomed yet.
I can’t put this outside yet still have cold temps coming but I am getting started.
stones are placed due to drainage…The Hibiscus will enjoy
Yes it has always worked with my other plants.
Great stones to share with us.
Thanks LaJenna. Another project.
