Kim Johnson has started a new theme for the next two weeks of her challenge. Click the link for details Just for Fun Week 5 & 6.
The theme is all about Transportation. I had a tough time with this one but here goes my first photo.

This photo was taken at a suicide awareness memorial walk. I walked in memory of my precious son. Many donations were received for the local suicide awareness and outreach group. There were many that turned out for the walk, unfortunately. You might be surprised at how many parents out there have lost children, siblings, and/or parents, to suicide. Nobody is immune. Never make the mistake of saying “my child would never do that”. It happens way too often. And it leaves the parent (or family member) with a lifetime nightmare to deal with. You never get over it. You just learn how to get through and start your new normal.
A favorite quote comes to mind… Those we love and lose are not where they once were. They are now wherever we are.
It is important to bring awareness and talk about this topic. Very powerful words!
Yes it is Ellie and I apologize for being 4 months late on my response.
I would love to walk in a charity run, that would help people that are suicidal or severely depressed.
There needs to be more of these.
A great way to bring awareness to such a tragic situation! I am sorry for the loss of your son!
Yes it is Michelle, and so much more should be done. Thank you.
O, my God 🙁 It is so sad . I am very sorry, Carol 🙁
You are kind, thank you very much.
Nice post! The quote at the end is so touching too.
Thank you Branka for commenting.
A great event! Suicide awareness should be brought to attention.
Thanks for the great post!!
Thanks alibb, you are absolutely correct.
Nice pictures! Nice post!
Thank you for commenting Georgi.
What a wonderful post for this, thank you for giving it so much thought. I love the photo and cause. It is important to bring awareness. None of us are immune true. The quote at the end is so touching too. Thank you Carol. : )
Thank you Kim, as you know it is an issue close to my heart and I try to reach out to anyone going through this horrible nightmare, it is not talked about enough.
And this is why you are such an inspiration to so many you do reach. ~~ Much Love ~~
You are kind Kim, I really do feel that is why I am still here.
Ah this we wont know until the last day right? I think it is one of many reasons, even if you don’t see them yet. : )
I’m so sorry, Beautiful :'( HUGS! <3
Thank you Windy, I am trying to help others who may be experiencing the same loss.
This post is very valuable to all of us, Carol! This post reminds us of many things in life!
Absolutely Albert. And suicide awareness is such a huge problem, nobody wants to talk bout it. We are losing so many every day and it is important to talk and try to figure out a way to help people in need.
That is one of the reasons why I often talk about love, the meaning of life, caring, and alertness. Maybe we can pay attention and care to those around us (even though still something can escape our attention), but surely not on who we cannot meet every day, right?
You are right Albert. There needs to be more people like you in the world today not afraid to talk about life, love and all the important things..
The world also needs people who are open and willing to share experiences like you.
i love the photos and the story great walk
Thank you Jasmine, it is an important issue that needs so much more attention.
A great idea to raise awareness of suicide that has taken so many lives.
Yes it is and many more people need to talk about this issue.
It is very true since none of us are islands.
Great cause, glad they sponsor walks like this! Very cool.
Thanks Telia. So much more needs to be done for awareness.
I agree, the reason for the walk is sad…but it’s good walk to support, and good that there were many donations.
Yes Courtney it was a good organization for a good cause.
I agree…I’d walk for that here if we had one….in support of a friend, and because I lost a family member to suicide too.
I am so sorry, I did not know. Maybe you could start one in your area.
Thank you, I’ve just never shared about it on here before. And that’s a possibility, but not sure I could with my anxiety!
The reason is sad for this walk. But it basically responds to the prediction.
Yes you are right Elenka, I just miss my son. But this was a great cause for those who need it.
