One of my favorite trees in my yard is the Crepe Myrtle. They have been around forever. I remember my Grandmother having several. I chose the crimson red color and am so happy with it. I cut it back at the end of summer each year and it returns each spring. It loves lots of sunshine. And the birds like the seeds it develops.
Crepe myrtles bloom in midsummer, with colors including white, lavender, purple, pink, magenta, and crimson red. My tree is the crimson red. After blooming, they develop distinctive seed heads, then the leaves tend to fall toward the end of autumn, leaving the colorful, exfoliating bark for the winter. The birds eat the seeds. I would recommend this tree for everyone. It also comes in a dwarf (short) size to use as a hedge.

This is how full and tall the crepe myrtle will eventually get. It grows taller each year.

So nice! This tree isn’t very common here in Spain. At least where I live!?
