If you had asked me, 60 days ago, what was the one thing you used every day from a technology perspective that was critical I would have, then told you it was my laptop? Now I suspect I would have to argue it is my headset. I have one for my home computer and one for my work computer, the reason for two is that they both connect to a USB dongle (USB device that connects to your computer). I had three, but I gave one to my poor wife, who is on a lot of calls now and needed a headset. Earbuds and wired headphones are beautiful, but there is someone about not being tethered to the phone or computer that makes a wireless headset more powerful.
My wife now has my two ears, ANC headphones that connect to the cell or computer. I have one ear headset connected to my work computer. It may just be my thing, but I do like being able to stand up, and not worry about that connected cable. I also like the concept of automatic noise-canceling capabilities for ANC. I remember when I was flying all the time, the difference between headphones and noise-canceling headphones made all the difference in the world, when you have ANC, the noise of the plane (car or sometimes now inside my own house goes away, the other thing is that earbuds, like the ones that ship with your phone, hurt my ears.
So, 50 or so days into lockdown, I still use my computer, but I use my earphones a lot more now than I did in the past. As a really quick tutorial, the types of headphones are listed below
- Wired earbuds (connected by a wire, fit inside your ear)
- Wireless earbuds (no wires, fits in your ear)
- Wired Over the ear (covers the ear, one ear or two) has a wire connecting to the device
- Wireless over the year (covers one or two ears and no wires)
The one feature that makes all the difference is ANC. Also, wireless heads often come with a pre-connected USB dongle that makes using the headset easy!

The buds do not stay in my ears.
i have that issue with some of them – the jabra’s work for me
I had to transcribe a book ( I was helping someone) I found that wearing a wired headset was so constraining in several ways. That was when I bought myself a wireless headphone.
ah which one did you get? (i love mine)!

I don’t use headphones, i don’t like it.
i understand that – many do not like them at all!
I don’t use headphones. I don’t use the phone often.
do you like my identical duplicate article? I have no idea how I did this!
My earphones are not working. If I had the tools, I would repair it. Took it to a technician, saw the many wires to one point said he couldn’t. It was as easy as a pie.
I do miss them.
i have used so many over the years, back in the day, i once pulled the cable off, with the plug still in the phone.
Was it feeble? I always tend to doze when boarding a public vehicle. Thus, I put on the earphones. The recent one was rendered useless when a part of the cable was laying on the seat. One of the passengers sat on it. Instead of saying, please can you stand a bit because you’ve sat on my cable, I started pulling it.
it was more that i moved in the wrong direction and the cable snapped. i don’t use the wired headsets anymore!
That’s the disadvantage of wired earphones.
it really is, i struggle with that problem so I gave up!
I only use headphones when traveling by plane or bus.
i understand that – i need them for the calls I am on all day.
I rarely use earbuds or any kind of ear pieces. It is usually very quiet here. But many use them while driving and walking.
how did I end up with two versions of the same post?
Not sure, you must have had a lot to say on the subject.
i guess I did, i have no idea how that happened. i know it is my fault somehow just don’t know-how.
I saw another post that got duplicated. Another bug to keep us entertained.
