I have always planted salad greens in the garden in spring. However, after the covid-19 stay at home orders, I decided to plant some greens and other vegetables on the enclosed patio. I thought it may be a good thing to grow my own food just in case supplies got really scarce. It didn’t take long for the salad bowl which included two different types of lettuce, kale and spinach, began to flourish. I can now make salads from the produce on my patio. In addition to the salad bowl in the photo, there is garlic growing in another pot and it is doing quite well. It is amazing the things you can grow indoors, sort of.

Always wise to be able to grow your own vegetables.. lovely photo.
You are right about that….
There will be no food shortages. I do not think so.
Hopefully there won’t be
There is currently no shortage of food in our country. I’m lucky because I have a garden.
No shortage for the things I usually buy but it is nice to grow some of your own food.
I agree. Homemade vegetables are certainly more delicious.
It’s great to produce our own vegetables and spices
It also tastes a lot better than than the store bought ones.
I also grow some herbs in pots. Not many, because I don’t have enough space, but I like to see them grow.
I grow some herbs too and it doesn’t require a lot of space . I usually have a pot in the kitchen
Looks like you have a delicious salad growing.
I am already eating it, won’t last long.
I’d like to grow some herbs. I am hoping that there won’t be food shortage.
I hope so too. Herbs are nice to grow and doesn’t require a lot of space.
I am hoping for the best but I know there will be some shortages.
I find there is a shortage of frozen vegetables here.
It is plain logic that there will be a shortage of several commodities including food.
But are you concerned?
i am worried as well, we didn’t plant anything (homeowners association prohibits regular gardens). I thought about starting some tomatoes and lettuce on the deck but didn’t.
You still have time to start them if you wish. Those homeowners associations can be so picky.
i probably won’t as we are actually refinishing the deck right now. But I will do this next year!
I have been growing herbs, veggies and fruits for sometime now and it has helped me tremendously during these lockdown days.
Good for you. Smart idea. I will grow a lot more outdoors when the weather is better
