Thursday's Reflections – Hastings – Cornwall Park

Here I am sharing with you some photos from Cornwall Park, the 2nd Cornwall Park that I know about in New Zealand. Now I am wondering how many Cornwall Parks there are?

This was taken last weekend in Hastings, in Hawkes Bay for my recent trip to Havelock North and Cara showed us Cornwall Park.

Cornwall is from the South West of England, and I have Cornish ancestry from Mum’s side.

Now this is the Chinese section of Cornwall Park. The Thumbnail is one of a few Pagodas.

#3 This is a moon shaped bridge with Pagoda

This is a beautiful part of Cornwall Park in Hastings but there are other aspects of Cornwall park, different from Chinese ..

Thanks, New Zealand does have a great deal of natural marble or limestone. You are probably right Ghostwriter but cant say that for sure.

Parks tend to be named after people rather than places. Was there a colonial governor named Cornwall at some time in NZ’s history?

    Duke of Cornwall is one of the titles of the heir to the UK throne. The current heir, Prince Charles, gains all his income from the Duchy, which is a huge landowner in many places other than Cornwall. For the record, he does not own the whole of Cornwall!

    I think you will find that there is a substantial Chinese population in NZ that dates back to a time when their ancestors were imported as cheap labour by the British colonial administration.
