Not all fish are peace lovers. Take the fighter fish for example. They look beautiful and come in different colours but they kill fish. They even destroy each other
We had a bitter experience when we chose to have several fighters in our aquarium as they looked pretty We then avoided them.
There are other aggressive fish too and here is a list
“Goliath tiger fish, vampire tetra, snakehead fish, peacock bass, giant wolf fish, alligator gar, Arowana, and Piranhas, especially the red belly and black piranha. These are voracious carnivores favoring a meat-based diet”

Apart from avoiding fish that is aggresive on needs to keep the aquarium clean. It is not necessary that one should empty the aquarium to do that. Just take some cotton and clean the insides and yes once in a way it could be emptied for proper cleaning.
Some instal air pumps. We never did that We had those scavenger fish that eat away dirt.

I love looking at aquariums but have never been able to keep a fish tank…nice photo.

If one has the time an aquarium is a great pass time.
I have two tanks, one 50 gallon that holds Two Denison Barbs, or Roseline Sharks, they will get about hand length in size. I also have three Mollies, and five Dwarf Blue and Neon Gouramis and one male Betta. They are all community fish and get along.
In the second tank, which is a 20 gallon, has my tiny fish in it. I have five neon Tetras, one male betta, and five fancy Guppies, and one Mollie fry. I love my tanks. I also have two snails for the small tank which keep it very clean, and four in the big tank. I do vacuum once a month and change 50% of the water, I have never emptied it and cleaned the whole tank. That would take six weeks to put the fish back in, and I am not willing to wait that long.
You are indeed a busy lady. Maintaining aquariums is not a joke Congrats. You also seem to know the names!! Are any of those fish scavengers? They lay at the bottom and eat away dirt. Here is the list of them

Once they get going they aren’t that much trouble at all. Once a month I have to do something to them, and change the filter. I do not have any scavengers that lay on the bottom, but all of these fish will eat algae and dead leaves off of the plants. The snails are my cleanup crew.
We do have an small aquarium, but at the moment, there is no fish in it. My husband is going to catch some peacocks from his friend today. I am not familiar with fish, but my husband likes it. The kids like them too. Well, it seems like kids like most of the pets. 😀
I have not heard of peacocks being fish Could they be guppies?
I have never had an aquarium but I have heard that you have to have compatible fish in it

I remember a friend who bought a predator fish that killed all the other fishes in his aquarium.
It happened to us. We bought a whole lot of fighters which are colourful and they killed most of the fish.
We used to have aquariums. I have too many people to take care of to add fish now!
When we shifted to this place we had no choice but to go to just one place to buy fish but they gave us a mix knowing they could not get along.
