How well do you know dog breeds?

Dogs are bred for a purpose and the group the dog belongs to has a lot to do with its breed. Companion dogs for instance are meant to be just that, a companion to its owner. If you are more active you may prefer a sporting dog. There are, however, no hard and fast rules as a sporting dog could probably make a great companion dog.

Kennel clubs use a classification system for dogs which puts them into certain groups based on origin and defined characteristics. These groups are mainly used for showing of dogs and for competition but it is also helpful to the person who is looking for a dog as a pet. Knowing the type of dog you bring into the home is essential for a successful relationship with your pet and should match your lifestyle.

See how well you are able to match certain breeds of dogs with the group they belong to.
