Can You Recognize These Trees by their Flowers

In spring and summer it’s easy to find spectacular flowers on many trees. But most trees flower at some time during the year. Their flowers might not be as showy, but they are just as important for producing the seeds the tree will need to reproduce. Do you notice them, as well? I took all these photos within a few miles of the coast in Southern California or in San Luis Obispo County.

  1. I left a lot of my tree photos out because I couldn’t identify them absolutely myself. That and I had trouble with bugs on the site while writing the quiz. Photos appeared not to upload so I kept trying. When I saved, many of the questions had been duplicated or more and I erased the original with the answers in the process of deleting some of the copies. So I had to make up new answers on most of the last questions. Then I took the quiz in preview to make sure all the answers were still correct. Then I submitted instead of adding more questions because it was already after 3 am.

    • I actually learned a lot myself while making the quiz. I couldn’t add some of the trees I had photos of because I couldn’t identify them for sure online or in my field guides. I didn’t want to guess for a quiz.
