I apologize for yesterday’s article title – I did a copy-paste, and after submitting realized, I hadn’t copied the right thing. I will double-check today!
There are a couple of things that I am noticing on the site right now. First, the number of active authors (more than three times a week) has declined. We are missing Kim’s challenges as well, and that is having an impact on the site.
I’ve noticed that the rate to 100 views has stabilized. While I understand that getting paid is the first goal of many people, as a long time blogger, I am interested in getting read. We are looking at a stabilized rate of 32 hours to get to 100 views. That is, of course, post specific and, in particular, that is my rate. I also track other authors but don’t share their names or results. I will say that the rate for the other authors has improved as well. Not to where it was in September 2019. But not as bad as it was in January 2020.
What can we do? That is the interesting question – I can tell you that I’ve noticed on two of the author’s I track when they have conversations on their posts with other authors their rate to 100 views is faster. Interviews are the way to make the most virils by roughly twice what you will get for merely submitting a post and replying to comments once.
- I promise that if you reply to my comment on your post, I will respond to your comment. I will like your comment if it is a thread ender (thank you, have a great day), but I promise I will do that!
- I suspect getting the edit button back would help! But are there other things (communication, social media style blocking, etc.) that would also help.

Losing Kim Johnson has been sad. She was a great user. Reading the comments is depressing. Is Virily really dying???
i hope not, things are still moving at a rate better than they were back in Jan. but it is slower than it was in May already.
I wish Virily could last. I enjoy writing here sometimes and reading your posts. So things are better now than they were in January but worse than last month’? THE SUMMER WILL HELP US. I AM SURE. Europe is now safe from coronavirus more or less. The internet traffic will be huge again soon.

it does seem we’ve lost many writers. Hopefully they return!
The number of members is really decreasing. I don’t know what the real reason is (they could be underpaid, lowering virils for viewing posts ….). I would really like to find a way to fix this situation but I have no real idea.

Seems like the site is rather “dead”. Lately, hardly any activity on anything of mine I have posted here, even when I view what other people have on their profiles.
with the scroll limit, the people that post 5, or 6 posts a day fill the screen. it is harder to find other writers sometimes
Ah, so maybe one of my posts should just be to feature other writer’s with links – what do you think Doc?
i like posts like that they really give back to the site!
It seems like we should do what we can until it is no more. I think that is a gift to ourselves.

My friend thank you for your efforts to improve this website just because you can see that there are fewer of us every day …. so we will not get anywhere
Perhaps @lado or perhaps we will be more inspired to share the work of all and have interesting discussions and they may open new doors or new windows. While I understand why Kim left, I hope if changes get made she might reconsider. I don’t want to concede until we have all done the best we can. I don’t think I have done the best I can yet. There must be ways to reach out to audiences who have never heard of this site before. Help me figure that one out.
I love teamwork and optimism and often times I must rely on others to help me see opportunities. Someone suggested that I go look and see what is trending on twitter and see if that could pull more people. It could work.
Maybe we take a different approach this week and see how we can get more people here. Let’s try some old fashion brainstorming!
