Still using the stock of photos that I took at my father’s cemetery a few days before new year, I posted one more for the Nature Tuesday challenge this time.
The Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery – Jakarta consists of several main blocks which divided based on religions. The main blocks are also divided into several sub-blocks based on the funeral year and the width of the sub-blocks themselves. In general, every sub-block has around 150 tombs and each sub-block is surrounded by rows of large trees of various types as well as paths that are provided for the pilgrims’ passing.
The grave of my father is located in a sub-block located in the left rear part of the cemetery. Not far from the sub-block stands a dividing wall of the tomb area with the outside environment around it. The high wall stands on the side of the path I mentioned above. It was at the edge of the path near the wall that I took this picture. Under the shade of large trees, out there looks a towering electric transmission tower that is also surrounded by trees.
Under the blue sky at that time, without an umbrella or outside the shade of a tree, the hot sun was quite stinging on the skin.

I love the trees, some of them are planted many years ago
Some trees have undergone rejuvenation and others have been added to as many as three years ago.
We’ve a memorial “statue”/building for the heroes.
Btw those are some really nice shots!!
How did you make a cemetry look not eerie?
It is good to remember the services of heroes, and one way is to build statues or buildings for heroes. In Kalibata there are also such statues/monuments.
Thanks, dear friend. I have long advised and taught my camera not to produce images with eerie nuances.
Great shot Albert, and yes we do have giant trees, and our cemeteries look familiar to yours. We have many heros buried here in our county, too many to count.
Thank you, Kim.
Giant trees there always give their own unique and beautiful scenery.
History has indeed brought down many fighters in many countries.
We have a Park of Heroes of the Second World War … a pair of Austrian and Italian soldiers … in the cemetery mainly cypresses
The grave must have been quite old, historic and certainly beautiful.
Very similar to this in your picture … everything in the straight line is just getting smaller
I understand. Something in a beautiful perspective. right?
That’s right dear friend
The green foliage seems to provide comfort to the departed souls. A very nice shot Albert.
Thanks a lot for the compliment, Mohan.
I agree with you, but so far seems that the green foliage gives more comfort to visitors.
My late parents are buried in Tennessee. I have yet to visit their burial place since Memphis Tennessee is way out of the Lake Charles area in Louisiana.
I understand. Distance is indeed often an obstacle to visiting the graves of our loved ones.
Thank you for your kind comments.
You are most welcome, Dee.
my father was a veteran hero, he had his cross in the heroes cemetery even if he was still alive when it was placed…. We didn’t mind at all. He is now in our cemetery with my mother.
You and I must be proud of the great history that has been written by our fathers, wherever they were buried.
of course, i was able to talk to other veterans when i was in the Veterans hospital with him.
You must have heard many heroic stories from all of them.
oh yeah one time, one veteran was asking me to come with him in the President’s house because he won the lottery, after a few minutes he died in bed. He was delirious that time.
Then what do you think and feel at that time and after?
My sister is buried in a local VA cemetery since her husband is a Veteran. It is a beautiful cemetery, as it this one.
I’m grateful your country gave a decent funeral to the veterans there. In my country, there are only 32 cemetery heroes and 1 national heroes cemetery, and those who can be buried there must be national heroes, or considered as heroes by presidential decree or have one or more highest honorary signs, can be the Republic of Indonesia Star, Guerrillas Star, as well as other stars according to the laws and regulations. Also, someone who has services to the state and is proposed by the president is also entitled.
Great shot Albert, maybe you could edit it twice and see what happens lol Lets do more challenge
Is that how you get revenge on me?

There are some lovely trees in that cemetery where you father is. The cemetery in my town is very large and has some beautiful trees in it. There’s lots of squirrels there too. Lots of people go and feed them. There are a few heroes too. There is 1 man that helped build Nelsons Column in my town. Nelsons Column is dedicated to Lord Nelson. Interesting story!
Thanks. It looks like you need to post cemetery in your town too, CoffeeQueen dear friend. But remind me if you post it.
Hmm, yes albert, Nice tress and Environment, your photography iz Amazing…
Thanks a lot, Hamza, dear friend. I only used what was around me to take as pictures…
