beyond just lying there
the final answer to the sound of
splashing. The ducks swimming
the geese landing
the green flowing like the water
filling every crevice, filling every hole.
As we walk
pushing aside the tendrils
and grasping roots
to look
and see.
What do we seek?
in seeking we are pushing
in pushing
we find
ourselves to the edge.
do we dare cross the edge?

Many people do not know how to build a culture of responsibility and just hope that things will happen on their own. Responsibility is not a one-off thing, but a permanent one. Irresponsible people are always looking for a way to pass the blame to someone else when they make a mistake and to credit themselves when the results are good. How pathetic is it?You are still proving your writing skills.??? Doc.
Honestly it is very sad, and something I worry about often in this world of ours!
Q: I HOPE EVERYONE IS STAYING SAFE!
Yes (8 votes) – 100%
Q: WE HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER, RIGHT?
Yes (8 votes) – 100%
Is it possible if we push too far we could fall off the edge. I like the line ‘green flowing like water filling every crevice and hole ‘ very much.
thanks! i find more joy in what others find in my poems! it makes me happy!!!
You are so welcome, I can close my eyes and see it in my head. Great imagery!
that is the goal of the poet, to help others see imagery. As a young poet, I fought the image of others and tried to only push my image. But, the poem isn’t my image it is a shared image.
have to learn to let go!
You are right, if others don’t get what you see that work is lost. But then all don’t understand or appreciate poetry.
Poetry is the art of expressing the small.
I think sometimes it is fading in the world because it only shares the small. Then I read the poetry of Ezra Pound, of Langston Hughes, and many non-US poets and I find again the voice of the small within me.
I would say i find my real voice when I write poetry, but I haven’t written anything serious in a long time.
i probably write poetry (new) once a month now. I used to produce 20 poems in a week (most were bad). I kept many of those so most of the poems I share now are old.
I have to say that my trip to the grocery store the other day was the best. The people were all polite, kind and everyone was helping each other. The store just remodeled and everything has a new home and aisle. Now can we keep the attitudes clean and respectful going forward? We will have to see!
that is the question is it not, will this be sustained!
Beautiful song. In the meantime, we must be very responsible to ourselves and others. Many people are not aware of this.
many are not, it is our job to help them see!
In these difficult times, we need to step together and help one another … even just what a nice word of support is welcome
thank you my friend, that is perfect!
With great pleasure and respect, dear friend
Nice poem. We should all be trying to find ways to help others, especially the elderly and those who cannot help themselves.
i have someone I know who worries about her elderly neighbors. you do that naturally thank you!
No thanks needed, it is just what I do, and it in turn makes my day. Thanks Doc.
it is something more of us need to do. I love the philosophy pay it forward. I never ask friends to pay me back, just help someone else!
Many drive throughs that are open now are doing the paying it forward. So much kindness. We sure needed it. This world was getting full of hatred.
perhaps a day of flowers is needed. Or a day of smiles?
It makes me sad sometimes.
It is all in the details isn’t it. This one didn’t make me feel cold! Odd!
well that is a start – it was taken in the summer on a hot day if that helps!
