The reality of photos and connections

One of the things I can’t do is share images from my Canon DSLR on Virily. The image size is too large, and I hate downsizing images. I shared a couple on Facebook, as they allow larger file sizes. Its hard to manage large photos, and Facebook has a much larger footprint to be able to support larger image storage. All of that isn’t relevant overall to today’s post, just a personal note about the larger pictures I end up taking and not being able to share with my blog posts.

I can use larger images as well on my WordPress blog; my gut is I will make an effort to share more images on that blog as well. Overall being able to share images is an important part of my Family History project.

Yesterday I talked about using OODA loops (John Boyd) to begin to determine what you needed from your home network. I wanted to convey a very specific message. It is important to remember that slow is a term that has no specific value. If you have one specific site that is usually slow, it is important that you consider why first. There may be issues on your computer or in your connection that causes the overall slowness. Or, the site is doing a lot of things. Slow comes not just from connection it also comes from the application.

Connections are something we have to always evaluate, for each connection.

The more a website does, the slower it will be overall.
