Transactive Energy, is the transaction based energy concept for tomorrow. It, TE, isn’t legally supported many places today. A reader pointed out in the comments that where she lived, they forbade the use of solar panels. Currently, some states are working on, or in the early stages of laws that will prohibit anyone, homeowners or other residence management systems other than apartments forbid the use of solar panels. I suspect apartments that include patios or porches will also be allowed to have smaller arrays on their patio as well. The law is loose right now. Homeowners associations can limit, control and force solar systems to be installed one way. That will change!
It should be noted, that solar is not hard to do. Holland and Germany both have extensive national solar energy programs. Nearly a third of all the power produced in Germany is solar. One of the interesting problems that Holland discovered in Amsterdam was the reality of electric cars. When your car requires toes plugging in every night, there is an impact. When you tend to leave early in the morning and return after the sun is going down, you can’t use your solar panels to the charge your electric car. That is one of the cool products Tesla has created (beyond their whole home battery system). A battery you can change during the sunny day, that will charge your electric car when you get home!
Germany and Holland have strong pro-solar laws. That change is coming from many other nations. Many large power companies around the world are exploring the reality of renewable power. Chesapeake Energy in Maryland and Virginia has large offshore wind farms. EDP, the electricity de Portugal has to wind farms that surround Lisbon (you can see them as you fly into Lisbon). Power companies are beginning to see the value in producing power locally. You lost 40, 50 and even 60 % of the energy you generate and transportation. The future the transport of power is, the more power is lost. Today transmission is the long pole in the tent. Tractive energy, personal micro-grids, and other local production systems reduce the distance power has to be transported. It gives a much greater return against production.
As government move slowly forward with legal protection for solar, wind, water and geothermal power production, remember, the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight!

Your articles about renewable energy are very important for me cause I also hope for the best human future!!!
The more we have rowing the faster we will get there 🙂
Thank goodness I don’t have to deal with homeowners associations.
HOA’s are often good, often bad. Ours sends letters all the time, frankly, they are annoying.
It is hard for people who are baby boomers to adjust to having changes made from our youth since it is to me “A shot in the dark.”
As a fellow boomer, I love the reality of adjustment. Times, they are a changing!
I can relate to that myself if the technology assists me to get more things done.
That is the dream right, get things done with technology, don’t waste time!
You are correct on this matter.
a desperate attempt to block renewable power- it smacks of a spoiled child refusing to see the dentist…
What a great analogy. I think many HOA’s are stuck in the misguided 1990’s report that said the original solar systems on roofs (which were incredibly expensive, and pretty much well, bad) reduced the value of a house. They may have then, but now people look for that!
I doubt it, more likely they own stock in oil and power companies
That is probably sadly true, greed can impact the ability of people to be unbiased.
conflicts of interest are everywhere
yes, they are (conflicts of interest). It is funny however, because local, state and national office holders pledge NOT TO HAVE THOSE.
Yeah, they also pledge to uphold the law and serve the interests of the populace. Too bad they don’t have a three strikes law for politicians. Who am I trying to kid?
Do not nominate me I will not run. Do not elect me I will not serve. There was once an honor in running for office. A commitment to the truth, to making the world a better place. We, citizens of mother earth, seek honor!
there is a saying regarding the only good candidate is the one who doesn’t want the job, but I can’t quite remember how it goes…
yes I remember the saying. The best person (changed from man) for the job is the one who says no.
that’s it, which means you are the best man for the job
Thank you for the kindness, sadly if nominated I will not run. If elected I would not serve.
Non Serviam? You know who said that, dontcha?
Ah, Non Serviam, often attributed to Lucifer. Used as the title of a component of a book many years ago. It was also the title of an album, I think, a few years ago.
Milton had a surprisingly progressive slant in Paradise Lost
Milton’s Paradise Lost was a topic of discussion in the very first poetry class I took in college. We spent 1/2 the session on the poem.
time well spent, if you ask me
