The Edit Button On Virily…

I don’t know how this affects other writers on Virily but I really found it useful for several reasons. There are such conflicting feelings about being able to edit faulty published content and not being a  good idea for others to have it available here on Virily. This is not a rant and I’m not getting embroiled in the discourse, ie, I’m not picking a fight here.

I originally asked head-office 4 years ago, when I really was a newbie, if it would at all be possible for me to self-post articles as I would not abuse that privilege. Within, what felt to me like days, at the time, I was notified that I was to be allowed to post my own articles. I have since posted about 1,200 articles here at Virily.

I am once again, both, respectfully and humbly requesting Admin, to return the edit button (which briefly appeared at your discretion), to assist myself and several others, in our writing endeavors here at Virily.com

Thank You,

In anticipation, Andre’ Hartslief.

  1. We all make mistakes. We need the edit button. I personally have not spin any posts. I will share other’s pots in order to help them with their views. What is wrong with that? Nothing I say, nothing is wrong. Agree Andre? Abusing edit privileges, what is that anyway!

    • I don’t know why you are quoting what I said in my original application to admin, this is not about that, at all! Nor has it anything to do with what you are saying in defense of helping others, it is GREAT and it is appreciated still. But why was I cautioned to just let things be? by both people I respect, You and Rasma Sandra? So, please, read what I was asked by Country Mama, below, what, I wrote and why she thanked me for what happened next.

  2. Writers are humans, too. I’M IN DIRE NEED OF THAT EDIT BUTTON. Pleeeeze!

No, I don’t abuse such privilege. I DON’T intend to abuse edit privileges by reposting/spinning/recycling (whatever) old posts. I’ve never done that, anyway.

Thanks for this request you’ve addressed Virily admin on my behalf, Andre.

    • In South- Africa, when the local Black folks are forced to accept sub-standard produce, of the price of bread is exorbitantly high, they boycott bread, all bread and within less than 24hours, bread is dropped down to a more reasonable price. You see, Country Mama, their chief meal is the bread and they cannot afford to pay more, alternatively, the entire Black populace starve or fast, voluntarily for 24 hours.

RESULT: Bread goes stale on shelves and workers have to be paid for zero sales. It’s a no brainer. It’s a really great pity, us other races are not willing/able/trusting? enough, to just stop, for example, JUST STOP, writing here at Virily. No articles, no revenue to pay marketing costs, etc.

But, relax, it really could never work, we just don’t have the courage to do something on such a scale. You have, in your short time here seen the futility of getting folks to stand together in one common goal.

    • I had a wonderful experience just about 2 or 3 hours ago, I messaged Virily Editor about my latest post. I had not realized that my post had a wrong preposition and a misspelled word. As a writer, it’s very shameful to have not seen that.

Thanks to you for writing your blog, I was made aware of my shameful carelessness! Indeed, it was, and could not rest until I corrected my mistake. To make my long story short, I messaged Virily Editor and pointed out my mistakes, and to, also, edit if there are other mistakes he might see that I had not seen.

He/she replied, “Done”, and graciously granted my request. That was only after an hour or so upon my request.

Like I said at my first year at Virily, Virily Editor/Admin is a reasonable, kind person who is truly aware of what’s happening here on Virily.

  3. Yes. I have two old drafts sitting there, which I want to delete, as I submitted them to another site, as they were rejected here, because I included quotes from the Christian Bible in them, which they didn’t like. It has to be all my own work, they told me.

They cannot be deleted here, or even reused, as they cannot be edited now.

  4. I have a post in the drafts and was informed by admin that it is there because the image was too small. I replied that I cannot edit it in drafts and would like the edit button returned for that reason. I just wanted to share that here with the writers.

        • Now that makes no sense to me at all. I’m forever quoting from various sources including the Bible, who doesn’t quote stuff? I’ve been here 4 years and honestly, I just can’t fathom some stuff out. Thanks for commenting, that’s apparently, is something else we’re no longer paid for.
