I posted a question on MyLot yesterday about winning a lottery ticket, and now you are part of the team going to be part of the first Mars Colony. It was something that I used to do with kids all the time when I was teaching. Seeing what children think is important, always lets you see and understand where they are. It is also hilarious at times. Anyway if you want to participate in that the link is here. I started using Mylot a couple of months ago and other than a couple of missteps it has been interesting. It is not a place for polls it more for questions and interactions. I am using it as an idea shaping place for my family history and technology posts here on Virily. It is also fun to wander around and interact with some very interesting questions.
Today is a conference call a day at work. I am never quite sure when it is ok to schedule meetings back to back to back thing came into vogue. I know in the last three companies I’ve worked for they do that on Friday’s. Not every Friday well most Friday’s. No solutions, no proposals, just bringing up a point.

- In the White House released Climate Change report, there was not a single mention of the global warming problem. The issue isn’t global warming. Global warming and cooling happen all the time throughout the history of our planet. It isn’t about; it is about how fast the warming is occurring at this point. The reality of warming is this – if it is warmer in Anartica, by default that doesn’t mean it is warmed elsewhere. When you consider the amount of polar ice that has to be melted in bringing the temperature up, most of that energy is consumed in the melting.
- Permafrost and other components of the far north and far south are retreating. Where once permafrozen (always frozen soil) was just below the surface in parts of Alaska it is now deeper than in the past.
- There are no longer reputable scientific dissenting voices around climate change.
I also posted a question about climate change on MyLot. I cannot tell you how angry the rest of the world is with the US. I cannot blame them, but it was interesting to gauge and ultimately consider the reaction.
There are some pending reviews I need to post. I promise I will get to those as we close out the year.

As I recall, the weather was different in my country, more strange and unusual than a few years ago. Flooding is increasingly common and in more areas (but this issue can also be partly due to reduced trees) At least before the 2000s, I had never heard of a tornado in my country. Well, my memory could be wrong.
I would suspect that your memory is spot on my friend. The evolution of climate does not treat humans well.
Well, I’ve just thought, what is really going on with all this? What is the reason and why?
I remember my first boating lesson (from my grandfather many years ago). He said there are two things to always remember.
1. Pay attention to the weather. The difference between you and stupid is not looking up to see what is in the sky!
2. When everyone else is rushing to get home, figure out why!
Good message. If I can meet and learn from your grandfather too, I would be wiser.
There have been many changes over the last few years in the weather and nature. I am sad to know some things are gone and will never return. Change is hard.
Yes, just ask the polar bears that used to swim less than a mile and now swim two or more miles every day.
my eyes got opened fully when we were affected by a typhoon and we were stuck in our town for a week, no one can leave and get inside. This was 2010 I think.
that’s the time I realized that we are very much affected by the Global warming. imagine after the flood we saw a lot of plastic bags and trash caught in the electric wires. and you know that our electric wires are connected by poles
We’ve had three hurricanes hit the US in the past year (extremely rare) one was a category 5 (that has never happened before)!
sometimes it is really difficult when mother nature is teaching us the most hard, expensive and terrifying way.
now I hardly ask for a plastic bag when I shop I always have my own bag … I always recycle plastic containers.
I am always caught by the title (and later a line) in the Aldous Huxley novel “Brave new world.” the line being “Oh Brave new world to have people such as this in it.”
