Taxi for Princesses – Themes by the Month

I was looking at some old photos and found another one that could fit January’s Shadow Challenge by Kim.

These horse-drawn carriages are a common attraction in tourists towns here, especially at the seaside. Local people don’t have much interest as horse carts are still used in the countryside by farmers, but foreign tourists see it as a novelty or even as a nostalgic reminder of the old days.

However, other people raise the argument that in urban settings, carriage horses are exposed to constant noise, pollution, traffic, hard pavement, long work days, heavy loads, and lack of access to pasture. What do you think?

  1. I would love to ride these carriages, they are the relics of the past. I wish we still had these there would be less pollution. However, animals everywhere tend to be badly neglected and overworked.

  2. First, wonderful pictures!

Can I answer your poll question with it depends? I agree with Carol, if the Handsome Cabs (that is what they are called in New York City) horses well cared for it is not a bad job for the horse.

but if they are forced to work in heavy traffic, cars motorcycles that is bad for the horses.
If the horse is mistreated that is also bad.
