Yesterday I went to the Ialomita valley to pick elderberry flowers. I want to make Socata! The place I was in is a bit wild with high grass and many bushes. Of course I did not miss the opportunity to look for small creatures through the grass! Take a look at who I met !!! A small orange creature of only 2-3 cm long. I’m not sure if it’s a Small Skipper (Thymelicus sylvestris) or a European Skipper (Thymelicus lineola). It’s the first time I saw it.
But any of them would be, it’s very nice to look at! Can you help me identify this small creature?

That’s a lovely photo, Ileana. The juxtaposition of the textures of leaf and wing is a real pleasure to observe! What did you do with the elder blossom you collected? Here they are not quite open, but soon I will make ice-cream from them 🙂
Thank you, Norman! I never tried ice-cream (I do not know recipes). I’ll make “Socata” ( a soft drink produced by the natural fermentation of elder flowers in a lemon and honey solution) and I’ll dry some flowers for tea!
I have no clue about the butterfly. It’s pretty. I am thinking that you are kind and wonderful for sharing this. May great comments come your way.
Thank you for your support!
If you look patiently and carefully, you will know that the creature can fly!
Whatever the name and type.
Do you believe me?
“I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day …” Do you believe me? ?
I do believe you, now and forever…
This is a skipper. They are very common in our area.
Thank you, Carol! I have seen it for the first time!
I have seen this butterfly some where not rememberd
I think it is European Skipper. It has black antennae tips.
I have seen it here but I don’t know its name.
It’s so lovely! Thank you for sharing.
With pleasure! I’m glad you like it!
Great capture indeed!
It is a beautiful butterfly. Small but very colorful!
