the only light in the distance
the flame of a lighter
a bic light in the distance
we see no further than that
as we draw
nearer to the rocks
each rock, named and hallowed
Sam lies in front of us and Alice to the side
our ors broke and no longer oars. we
are bound to specific no longer
joined by Or.
in the rain
in the wind
water lashing against
Sam
or Alice our Oars
not with us
now splintering against the rocks
not named Alice or Sam.
as the wind
blows out the bic
leaving us with no light
no way
no path to home.

Beautiful poem! I love lighthouses too, I used to collect photos of lighthouses and benches when I was little.
i have pictures of lighthouses all over the US! I love seeing them!!!
The lighthouse is a sign of hope to those on the seas. It is always easier when you can see your goals.
it is truly a beacon of hope. Too bad we don’t have those on land!!!!
A wonderful poem, Doc. I love lighthouses. I have had several houses I have seen in my life that for some reason I have been drawn to. All of the apartments I have lived while in NYC for some reason also have special meaning to me and I have fond memories of them when I look at different photos.
it is amazing isn’t it was makes us remember!
My Grandmother’s house holds a very special connection and bond. She no longer lives but it will always be her home. So many good memories of my entire family there.
it is amazing my grandparents house on the lake was sold nearly 40 years ago, but it is still a massive part of our family as well!!!
Great picture and a nice song, dear friend … these beacons are really something special … where they stand
they truly are wonderful things to behold!
I also saw the interior … in more remote places, the lighthouse keepers live there
i love going to the keep, with closed lighthouses. This one is still working!
This is a truly unique experience, dear friend
