The clover is taking over the lawns this year for some reason. Some say it is because of all the rain we have had. But one thing is for sure. The rabbits love it. I see four to five rabbits every day running through my yard. Not sure what kind. They are brown and have a white cotton tail. It is so cool to watch them. They will chase each other. Then they will stop and jump straight up. Very entertaining to watch. If they see me getting too close with the camera they freeze. Funny they look like statues for several minutes, then they will run off. Nature is offering new experiences this year.

Have you ever seen a rabbit in your yard or garden?

Yes

No

We have had a plague of rabbits in NZ. We do have pet shops that sells rabbits of different breeds. You won’t see one rabbit on the lawns of NZ. Someone may come and shoot it.
I love rabbits, but NZ is one place where they either get poisoned or shot.
Yes in the wild I have seen rabbits. Rabbits would get killed here by the cat population here.
Wow that is crazy Pam. NZ must have a lot of cats.
Yes, we have far too many cats. Sad, nice animals but they should never been brought here. I like them but our native birds are defenceless against them.
This is so cute! My grandparents breed rabbits, but I haven’t seen wild ones.
Thank you Ellie, I love seeing them in my yard. These are all wild that I see.
Nice shot, Carol. In my area, there are no rabbits hanging around except one’s pet.
Thanks Albert. I had pet rabbits growing up.
lol, I had to laugh when I read what you wrote. “I am not sure what kind they are but they have white cotton tails”? They are, white cotton tail rabbits, and Meika’s favorite kind to chase. Now she wants to visit. Grins. Great shot! Wow.
LOL I’ll bet she does 😀 😀
What a duh moment I just had Kim. 🙂
Not a duh moment, it just shows you how unimaginative the people were who named it in the first place. Just like the white tailed deer…. Grins..
This is how my over analyzing comes into play. Couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Looking too hard!
That’s a really great shot, Carol! Yeah we sometimes get rabbits (though the cat tends to scare them off a little), but more often hares, which are so elegant and deer-like. They are more than a match to Catsky too, being about twice her size 🙂
Thanks Norman, I was excited to get it. My cats watch from inside the screen room but if they were out I know they would keep them out of the yard.
Lovely photo of the rabbit! I see them in the park often but they hop away quickly.
Thanks, it is so cool to watch their behavior. They will jump straight up, so cool.
Very cute, great shot! I’d love to see one….but don’t here.
They are all over here and usually cannot get a good shot of them. Thanks!
Eli would love seeing them.
Well this was a great capture 🙂 And yes I bet he would!!
Usagi desuka? There was a wild rabbit in our neighborhood around six months back and my girlfriend was determined to catch it…
You gotta be really fast and then you still can’t catch them! 🙂
She wasn’t nearly fast enough, the bunny just toyed with her
Once I tried to nurse a baby bunny back to health. The mother left it cause it was ill I guess. The baby bunny lived for a few days, then died. I tried! Love your photo!!
That is sad but at least you tried. I have several, like a little family.
You will help them one and all I do believe.
These are wild running in and out of my yard. They are fun to watch.
I was tilling the garden one day and uncovered a nest of five babies. They were 4 weeks old and just starting to hop around. I went to the vet, got bottles, and kitten formula. Out of 4, 3 lived and were released. My vet did warn that they are extremely hard to care for, even at 4 weeks. At least you tried. : )
