1. I have been stung by the worst ant ever. The harvester ant. I will never forget that week of pain.
   We have had a problem with ants this year, around the house are little black ants! I do consider them pests. I am sure they have their place though…

   • do you spray them with chemicals or just vinegar? are these the black sticky ones?

     • OH this is a battle for sure, and it’s on. Those damn ants. Yes they are the small little pesky ones that seem to be everywhere in the world, but I am sitting on what has got to be the biggest ant hill ever. I started off this spring with organics. That didnt work. Then I tried just the insecticide that you spray in the cracks on the outside of your house. Didnt work either. Then I found a six month spray for yards and gardens. It worked for a week. I am at a loss. I just keep spraying with the six month stuff. At least it works for a little while. I even tried the ant bait stuff. They wont eat it. Wont even go near it. lol Ok, ant rant over.

       • ohh too bad, is this seasonal event? we have lots of ants here because of the coming rainy season. that’s too bad, are you sure you are not living in the gingerbread house?

         • There has always been a few, but this year they are the worst I have ever seen.

   • thanks. i also love these pictures as well. my nices and nephews were joking me that my models were all insects eversince I arrived here.

3. how did you get ants in your hot pants?

   • I don’t know.. maybe they were cold and wanted to warmed.

       it’s not happenstance- don’t take that chance!

4. Great close up photos! I have been bitten by a reddish ant and it was surprisingly painful.

   • Thank you … yes we just need to be aware of the red fire ants. Although I think they only live in Amazon jungle.

     • Maybe that’s another kind that bit me, but they were different than the regular black ants I usually see.

       • oh yeah, there is this black ant that when it bites it’s terrible. the other one don’t bite at all but crawl forever on the skin. LOL

5. The bite of the ants is not pleasant … I have ants in the garden

   • I think this is one animal that we can all relate too wherever we live.

6. There are so many ants at home, of various types, and some have bitten me until my hands are swollen.

   • What are you doing why did they bite you? Playing with their ant hill again? tsk tsk tsk

     • Actually, I only talked to a big ant while I tidied up the grass, but maybe the biting ant was jealous because I was too close to the queen.

       • ohhh no wonder, these soldier ants were really fight for the ant of their life which is the mother queen. lol jealous they will really be.

         • Yes, I’m sure the soldier ant knows that there has never been a man close to the queen.

7. We have lots of ants. We can keep most of them outdoors.

   • good to know. what is the color of your ants. We have variety here.

     • I agree – ants are probably clean at every end of the world

       • yes, i think so, thats why we can eat the ants’ eggs.

         • I haven’t tried that yet-are the eggs of ants to eat?

10. Nice photos of these insects. I have ants around my hummingbird feeder. They go after the sweet nectar.

    • Oh yeah, they have sweet tooth, and also good for your humming birds will have free meat. the circle of life.
