Nature Tuesday ~ Pulmonaria officinalis for lung health

Spring is really close. We had a nice and warm day today so I headed out into the woods. I picked the first plant for my homemade tea  – Pulmonaria officinalis.

We pick a flowering plant, from March to May, flowers and green leaves. These spring days, the Pulmonaria officinalis bloom vividly between the bushes and the hedge, along streams, forested slopes, in shady deciduous forests; at first red, then the bell-shaped flowers turn purple and finally blue. Pulmonaria officinalis has retained its reputation only in folk medicine, such as tea for lung diseases, respiratory cold, flu, cough, hoarseness, and asthma. Now I need to dry the plant in shade and draft. I have to make sure that the plant retains a nice green color. I store the dried plant in glass jars.
