Today I took advantage of a beautiful morning for a walk along the nearby river and forest. If we walk with our eyes open, we notice many things that nature offers us. Among them is also the elderberry which I picked today.
Elderberry grows in shrubs that reach up to ten meters high. Their flowers are yellowish-white and have a very characteristic scent, which is also extremely intense. It usually grows along clearings or at the edge of a forest.
Elderberry has many healing properties, which is why in the past it was also called a healing box for peasant people. Among other things, elderberry helps with diabetes, hay fever, stimulates sweating, lowers fever and colds, cleanses the blood …
I usually use it for tea.

In Bulgaria we make drinking syrup. Dilute with cold water. This is an elixir.
I, too, have already made syrup and juice.
I don’t know if there’s one here in our place.
It may not be thriving in your country. Plants do not like wet soil.
I see. It won’t grow especially during our rainy session.
There was an elderberry lotion craze for a while in Chicago when I was little.
This plant is very popular in our country. People use it a lot in different ways.

I first learned and heard about elderberry in England a long time ago and its healing properties. Its too warm for elderberry trees here in Auckland but they do have it in the South Island. Lovely photo
Thank you, Pamela. Unfortunately, the plant does not thrive in all climatic conditions.
Elderberry is a very healthy and useful plant indeed. Beautiful photo and interesting information!
