the one, straight line.
Pencil ready we pull the ruler from the
bag beside the desk. Yellow and
nicked, the ruler fits
next to the paper. We press
the pencil next to the ruler
drawing a straight line
One line straight, the other lines
pulling away from
what could be the center what could be
the other edge.
We put the ruler
back in our bag
we will not measure
or draw
again today.
