Macro Monday ~ Ornamental Onion

The view of the flower garden in the summer months is a real balm for the eyes, but what when many plants lose their charm with autumn. In order for our garden to bloom until late autumn and thus beautify the surroundings of the house even after the end of summer, we can plant some perennials.

One of them is ornamental onions. It is a very popular perennial in recent years that thrives in a hot sunny spot and likes rich and well-drained soil. They can be planted in the fall (these will bloom in the spring) or in the spring (to make them bloom in the fall). The view of the upright stems with large, purple inflorescences is a real feast for the eyes. Their good feature is also long-lasting flowering: it lasts from 3 weeks to 1 month.
