Growing the community here on Virily has been a goal of mine for the past few months. One of the things that interested me originally was who influenced the other authors on the site. I shared the seven top influencers and a couple of call-outs for the positive commenters as well. Today I am chasing guest views. First I am not asking for credit for guest views I am interested in how many guest views are happening. The reason for that is wholly economic, the more guest views we as authors drive to Virily, the more revenue the site will get from advertising. That benefits all of us, as the longer Verily remains economically viable, the longer we get paid. Guest views are generated when we share posts either our own or those other authors on social media.
Yes, the four buttons that appear after you publish a post, or when you are reading someone else’s posts, the four buttons right below the cover picture. Each of those represents a chance to expand the overall Virily audience to more people, i.e., guests. Guests don’t get you, as the “sharer” Vrils. They did when the site was first operating, but because of many issues, the overall to track guest views by the author was disabled. The admin team informed us that it, tracking guest views per author caused performance problems for the site. I can understand that The analogy I use for that is a highway. It is easy to track the number of cars on a highway. Simply count the passing cars as they go by.
It is much hard to track specific cars traveling on a highway throughout a day. It changes how and what you track. It can also be a lot more information, that has to be captured quickly. Does the question then become what we can do to increase guest views on the site? The more guest views, the more effective the click-through advertising is, the greater the revenue the site gets. Plus, you, as the author get credit for guests reading your posts as views. The poll questions are geared to begin understanding what social media sites are being leveraged by readers. As we change down the path of increasing guest views, it is important to understand where we are sharing first. Then we can determine where the effective sharing is going! A stronger Virily is a happier writer community!

I admit your interest and motivation for growing this site are very positive and useful, and I really appreciate it.
The issue about sharing is that I am not active or less active on almost all social media so if I share any posts there, I see there is generally no response there.
I can see that and understand completely. You drive a lot of eyes back to posts you read, which is awesome.
As an influencer, you are a game changer.
I’ve also noticed that you and a couple of other folks really bring new writers into the fold.
Kudos to you for that!
Thank you, Doc. If it is not you who said that, chances are that I will only consider your feedback as an ordinary compliment. I just become awkward with the responsibilities associated with it.
Bring new writers? How come?
You are like an occult expert here, because you can see what I can’t see.
sorry, i’ve noticed that you and a couple of the other influencers really find and help new writers as they first post on the site.
I see… I think that needs to be done if I find a new writer here. It is convenient and feels good for us if we are welcomed as a newcomer, right?
But, I curious how you found the data of it.
I actually heard from a lot of the new writers. So I have no data, that would back that up.
Heard? Is it true that new writers report to you? I began to suspect that you were an admin in disguise. Hahaha…
wow two laughs in the same day.
They started reaching out to me when I posted the influencer series. Most new writers want to know who they need to reach
Hmmm… I’m even more curious! I will investigate this case carefully and thoroughly, to the end!
We may have to change your name if you keep investigating “-)
Owh… What name is suitable for that? Tintin? Inspector Gadget? James Bond? Sherlock Holmes? Scooby Doo?
well, I think people would say I was inspector gadget. For you it is probably the more refined Holmes 🙂
Hmmm… That’s okay for me…
I usually use Twitter and Google+ to share posts.
Thanks – interesting so far watching social media, the tools are not mature enough to pull the data I need right now.
Maybe they will change something and you will be able to get data
That I suspect will never happen, in part because then we would know the financials of the site.
If this is related to finance then this really will not happen
I agree! that is why I haven’t asked for the specific just for them to post the overall stats.
I normally use Twitter to share posts from Virily. I stopped using many platforms like Pinterest, Google+ and the like. And I wish you luck in your endeavor to increase traffic in Virily.
Thanks oh poetic pixie! Trying to move the conversation to positive ways to improve the site!
