Our property is famous for unknown trees just springing up from nowhere. I do not like to uproot them and now I have what could be called a garden with systematic wilderness.
The leaves that you see in the photo belong to one such tree which is slender and tall. The leaves have a refreshing smell of lemons
I know there are herbs that smell like lemon and are used sometimes to add a lemon flavour to dishes.
I was wondering if I could use these leaves too but am not sure if they are edible. Is there an expert here who can guide me?

No idea about this trees
It looks very much like lemon verbena, only, verbena is a bush and not a tree. Verbena is quite edible.
Dawn did the search and she has found the tree. It is a tree. I have decided to put some leaves while the rice is cooking just to see how it tastes.

Dawn has the answer. It is a huge tree Carol and I wonder I will let it grow right in the middle of the garden (lol)
Don’t have a clue what it is. I would suggest a local botonist.
Our user Dawn did the search for me.

Wow!! Seems to be the same plant. I will retain it and I will cook rice with leaves put in it.Just to test. Wonderful.
Thanks for doing the research for me.
The plant has still to grow into a tree but that will be such a huge tree.
You are so welcome. I love learning more about new plants so I cease each opportunity.
It will grow into a huge tree and so I am wondering if I should let it grow there.
may be close relative of lemon.
This is a medium sized tree and there are no fruits.
I don’t know what that could be …. I see it for the first time dear Grace
It could be of some value. If I do not get any answer here I will search the Net.
I have no idea and have never seen such type of a tree. Someone over here will provide the answer. We have tree experts here.
I hope there will be someone talking about it here.
There are some apps which will tell you the plant by clicking leaves or flowers.
It would be a nice interaction here, though
thanks for shearing this with us
I hope I will get a reply to my question.
