Today I will continue the “story” of the Knin Fortress. If you visit the Knin fortress as an average tourist, the following “things” will probably come into your eyes: the extraordinary size of the fortress, the very good preservation of the walls and the buildings themselves (with the fortification being additionally and diligently renovated), the fortress inn with a great view, museum and gallery exhibitions, an annual stage, a souvenir shop, a church and other church sites. It is also wonderful to walk between the buildings on the fort and feel the spirit of the past, to see the monument of the first Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. The Knin fortress did not get such a definitive shape and size until the eighteenth century. The Knin fortress is usually broken down into five major units by experts (archaeologists, historians, military strategists). Each of these five pieces of the Knin fortress can be considered as a “self-contained mini-city”. Each of these five parts could, in principle, defend itself independently from its own loopholes, bastions and from the fortress itself. Each part of the fort had water tanks, weapons depots, ammunition depots, barracks, food depots.

Seems like a very interesting place to visit!
You are right. I still have a lot of pictures but unfortunately I can’t post for 15 days.
I hope you will be able soon!
all the castles in the US are fabrications…
Oh really? I didn’t know that.
castles stopped being built around the 15th century, long before anyone thought of sailing to the Americas…
This looks amazing I would love to tour it. I love seeing historical places,
I also always enjoy seeing the sights of the places
A very interesting place, I would sense the atmosphere straight away…We don’t have anything like it here but the Maoris of New Zealand have had a different type of past but similar in another way.
I suppose every country has some landmark
Amazing history held at this fortress and such a beautiful blue sky. Would love to visit.
Thank you, Carol. The history of this fort is truly unique
I’ve visited this fortress before too, dear Vidocka … it’s really very beautiful and worth seeing
I agree. This place is well worth a visit
I must commend you for looking great in the picture, dear Vida
Thank you so much for your kind comment
With great pleasure … which is really true
It’s a beautiful place! I would love to visit it! I live in a historical city, the former capital of Romania. There are many historical monuments in the city.
Your country is also beautiful. I’ve been thinking about visiting her for some time now.
Love visiting historical places. The oldest building near us is around 140 years old though!
I don’t have any attractions in my immediate area.
The only thing near me is the site of the first bank robbery in the US and the old canal built by George Washington.
I am not much into history but if I was touring this area I would certainly take interest.
You would certainly like it even though you are not a fan of history
