This, the city of canals, was the number one city on my wife’s original wish list. Right after we got married my wife and I sat down and created our dream list. Going to Amsterdam was number one on my wife’s list.

We finally made it to Amsterdam in 2016. It was a magical adventure!
Lessons Learned:
1. DO NOT TAKE MY WIFE AND CHILDREN INTO CHEESE SHOPS
(unless you want to spend a long time in a cheese shop)!
2. Cheese fries are really good in Holland. The Cheese Fry stands are all around the Red Light District, just outside the shops that sell Marijuana, that is a brilliant business idea.
3. The Canals are amazing!
4. Amsterdam has a wonderful subway and train system

Stunning videos and awesome memories!
lots of fun memories from lots of fun trips!
I would think the houses lean in due to the flooding situation.
they actually lean to avoid the flooding – you were spot on!
That is what I mean, lean away from the water.
you were correct – i thought it was really cool!
That is a fact I actually learned while researching the different colored houses in Denmark.
they tell you on the boat tours in Amsterdam! it was fun to realize that!
Beautiful pictures and a magical place. I would love to visit this place.
my wife’s mother is from Holland. She had wanted to visit since she was 5.
Thank you for the explanation. Now I understand why her first wish was to visit the Netherlands.
It was very hard on her (my wife). Her mother (biological) had an affair. My wife was the result of that. Her husband informed my wife’s mother that it was him, or the baby. She chooses her husband (a really long story). My wife was adopted by a wonderful couple.
A sad story. I’m sorry your wife had to experience this. Unfortunately, I also know a few similar stories. I don’t understand what kind of man can put up with such an “ultimatum”.
it was a different time, my wife’s biological mother was a survivor of the camps and is very fragile.
I apologize. This is a completely different story and a tragic story. I understand more now. I’m a little unaware of what people went through in the camps.
she still has the tattoo, she showed it to me at our wedding. We have visited but my wife and her are not close.
I enjoyed all the magical pictures. I would love to go there one day, but I doubt it will ever happen.
original pictures were a blast I shared some of mine in the wander project!
