i find
in the smile that spreads across your face
the memory and the moment.
each crinkle of your nose
reminding me of a moment
long lost but
now remembered. if the box
shaken, not stirred, pulled from the closet
were laid end to end
the pictures each
spread out across the table
and then the floor
and then out the door
to circle the world
over and over.
A line of memories that never ends
brought to the light
to confirm.
for in the light
all things are safe
except for gray hairs and bad dad jokes.

We really don’t need these pictures at all, memories are enough to produce them in a a shuffled sequence when we least expect them
they are often that way. what and how we remember makes us human!
