Hot or Not: Would You Try Coffee Maker Pickles?

In my house, we are pickle fans. Is it the same at your house? We mostly love dill pickles. But also pickled beets and sauerkraut. And I also love the sweet mixed pickles with the cauliflower and the pearl onions. I would even try pickled watermelon rind or pickled squash blossoms if someone gave them to me. And I have made my own pickled zucchini and even pickled carrots. The one thing I am not fond of is pickled peppers – just like Peter Piper in the old burger commercial! I saw today a video that made me think perhaps it’s possible to make pickles even in a very tiny kitchen. It’s coffee maker pickles! You put all the ingredients into the coffee maker and then it just goes into the refrigerator. After a few hours, the pickles are ready.

    • I love them too. Growing up, my mother always had a jar of bread and butter pickles (her favourite) and another jar of sweet mixed pickles (my favourite at the time) in the fridge. When I discovered sweet gherkins, those became my preferred pickle. Today I’d have a tough time to choose. I love too many different pickles!

    • I think the coffee taste might transfer to the pickles. I imagine you’d have to use a separate coffee maker, don’t you think?

(BTW, I prefer my coffee in a French press!)

    • I think the carafe would not absorb the pickle flavour. And since only water goes into the coffee maker, it wouldn’t leave a strange taste. But the pickles might taste of coffee!
