Visited my maternal grandma over the weekend and then she showed me her ginger plants! She told me to dig some up to see if there are ginger growing … and Ta-dah!
She had a few “young” ones growing … We planted new ones in replacement of these which I dug up … and then she passed them to me and asked me to try growing them at home!
Not sure how they’ll turn out …

I do not know if ginger grows in Spain. I really like ginger, my mother prepares a delicious drink with ginger, honey, and lemon.
Woo! I know about that too!
Ginger tea/soup are really nice!
I tried planting these beautiful tubers–ginger. But they always died in winter. They rot in the ground because of frost. Maybe, thicker mulching next time.
I think you did well there … ginger are tropical plants …
I think my ginger are dying … and its not because of the weather …
just can’t seems to grow them right … :/
ginger won’t grow where I live. do you go often to your grandmother’s garden?
Is your side very cold?
Not really, if I do visit, I may not go out to her garden lLOL
it is pretty cold part of the year here!
The ginger looks great does it require a hot climate to grow it?
I’ve got some information online …
“Ginger loves a sheltered spot, filtered sunlight, warm weather, humidity, and rich, moist soil.”

We’re hot to warm most of the years … so perhaps warm weather will do …
I love having ginger in my food. I no longer have a ginger plant but one time I did grow ginger in a flower pot.
They do quite well in pots …
Ginger not only taste good in food, they’ve health benefits too! 🙂
ginger is vegetable royalty
Hmm… I didn’t know they’re …
but royalty or not, they end up in my stomach!!
LOL
you eat them all, with out regard for status?
Well, I don;t discriminate … LOL
equal opportunity plant eater?
That sounds like a nice badge to put on 😀 LOL
it lets other folks know where you’re coming from
Never tried growing ginger but my grandmother grew all kinds of herbs and veggies.
Seems like grandmas love to grow practical plants – those that can be eaten LOL
Ginger are easy to take care, according to my grandma!
Very nice photo. That’s nice you visited your grandmother.
We try to visit her fortnightly but sometimes we do get busy
Great looking plant, and I would love to try to plant some ginger as well.
Ginger are not that difficult to grow … according to my grandma …
I’ll see if mine survive 🙂
