Here’s a photo of the moon I took yesterday for the Sky Sunday Challenge. The full moon in February is known as Snow Moon.
This month’s full moon is the 4th closest the moon will be to the Earth this year which mean that it is the 4th brightest and largest the moon will appear. After that, we are going to enjoy a season of 3 supermoons on March 9, April 8 and May 7.
Did you know that the Moon is drifting away from the Earth? The Moon is moving approximately 3.8 cm away from our planet every year. This is estimated to continue for around 50 billion years. By the time that happens, the Moon will be taking around 47 days to orbit the Earth instead of the current 27.3 days. source
Did you have a chance to see the moon during the weekend or was the sky cloudy in your area?

So curious, never heard that the full moon in February is called Snow Moon. Just great!!!
I didn’t know until someone told me the one in January is caled Wolf Moon and I was curious to see the other ones.
Lovely photo, and interesting information..Thanks
Thank you very much, Pamela!
This morning when I got up at 5am I saw her. But I didn’t take a picture.
It’s more important that you were able to see it. 🙂
We had a lot of rain this weekend in Brussels so we didn’t get to see the moon. Your photo makes up for that. Thanks for posting the picture.
I am sorry to hear that, I hope you are able to see the next full moons, they will be even brighter and bigger. Thank you so much!
I enjoyed the moon and took a few pictures during our walk.
That’s wonderful, the moon is always fun to photograph.
the moon has long been drifting from the earth. It depends on which theory of course of how the moon was formed as to how long it has been drifting away.
if you believe the theory that the moon was created by the collision of a molten planet (earth) and a huge asteroid, resulting in smaller earth and the moon, then it has been pulling away since its creation.
That’s so fascinationg, it makes us realize how small we are and how limited our time here is.
we are but a sliver of time in the geologic clock!
I saw the moon because we had clear weather … I also painted it just not as beautiful as yours
That’s wonderful, thank you so much!
With great pleasure, dear Ellie
I am a morning person and rarely get to see the moon. That is a great photo you managed to click of the moon.
Thank you so much, I took this photo during the sunset 🙂
A beautiful shot of the moon. We had good weather so I could watch the moon.
Thank you so much; I am glad to hear that! 🙂
I guess after 50 billion years, people will be seeing the full moon once every 47 days instead of 28.
I have no idea about that.
It will happen gradually and over millions of years, so who knows what it would be then.
I watched the moon all weekend! It was amazing! Good picture!
Thank you very much, the moon is always fun to watch.
Incredible moon shot. I watched it from my porch last night, it was huge and bright and just perfect!
Thank you so much! I believe it will be even more spectacular tonight.
